Joaquin Perez is with the Photonics Research Labs (PRL) at ITEAM research institute of the Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain as a Photonics Researcher.
He received his M.Sc. and PhD degrees in Telecommunications Engineering from Universitat Politécnica de Valencia, Spain, in 2004 and 2009, respectively.
From 2003 to 2009, he was a Research Assistant at the Valencia Nanophotonics Technology Center (NTC) of the Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain working in wireless photonic integration communication systems and ultra wideband radio over fibre systems. In 2010, he joined the Optical Communications Research group, Northumbria Communications Research Lab at Northumbria University, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom, as a Research Fellow. During June 2013 he was invited as a guest researcher at CTU Prague, Czech Republic.
From 2014 until 2017, he was with the Optical and Quantum Communications Group (OQCG) at iTEAM research institute of the Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow under “Juan de la Cierva” Fellowship programme from MINECO, Spain. At 2017 he joins the Photonics Research Labs at iTEAM of the Universitat Politècnica de València as Photonic Researcher. During April and June 2017 he was invited as a guest researcher at Chalmers University, Götoborg, Sweden.
His research interests include microwave photonics, optical wireless communications, quantum optics and secure systems, photonics integrated systems and optical access networks. He is open also for collaboration at any interesting research topic on Telecomms, optics physics and others.
He has participated in several international research projects, e.g. IST-UROOF, ICT-UCELLS, EU COST action IC0802 and IC1101, and published more than 60 works in recognized international journals and conferences.
